China Reviving World's Longest Sea Tunnel

China is investing about $42 billion for reviving plan for the world's longest undersea tunnel which would dwarf that the channel tunnel.

This long stalled plan to build the world's  largest undersea was originally proposed in 1994. This tunnel is to connect Yantai city in eastern Shangdong to port City of Dalian in northeastern Liaoning province. the tunnel is going to be about 123 km i.e. 76.4 miles which will beat the record of Seikan tunnel in Japan of 33.46 miles i.e. 54 km. Seikan tunnel is the current longest tunnel of the world. The cost can be recouped in 12 years as said by a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Mengshu.
This big project report came about a month after Nicaraguan lawmakere gave to a Chinese company a 50 years cocession for designing, building and manage a shipping tunnel to connect Central American nations.
